A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the result. Carroll County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is retained so a response can be provided. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Carroll County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to Carroll County custodians, including the sheriff, the courts, the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Code § 19.2-389 controls dissemination of CCRE criminal-history information. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into reports about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted to a box is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and sharing rules, so review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to Carroll County offices, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search tools. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before sharing personal details. Requests made directly to a Virginia public body may also be governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
Advertising companies may follow activity across websites to select targeted ads. That tracking takes place on their systems, not ours.
